How to Install WinRAR Software

WinRAR has several functions. Many downloadable files come in a "Zip" format. This means that all the files for the specific application are compressed into a bulk file. To open this type of application, you must use an extracting program. WinRAR extracts files as well as adds folders or a group of files into one specific file. This is important to save hard drive space or send files over the Internet.

1. Step 1
   Download WinRAR and go to the download folder. Double-click on "Winrar.exe" or something similar. Click the "Run" button in the "Open File" popup window.
   
2. Step 2
   Change the "Destination Folder" or keep it the same. Click "Browse" to modify the folder. Select a new directory and press OK. Click the "Install" button.
   
3. Step 3
   Add the file types you wish to use. Under "Associate WinRAR with," choose the formats that WinRAR will automatically open. These include but are not limited to "RAR," "ACE" and "TAR." Press "OK" when you finish.
   
4. Step 4
   Select the "Run WinRAR" tab. You can now begin extracting files or adding files to the WinRAR application.
